I’m new to the Nintendo Switch, but thought I’d share my favorite games so far in early 2025!
Let me start by saying I am a 46 year old woman, so not all the games on the switch are going to be my cup of tea. I opted to get the gaming system when I heard about my long recovery period from an upcoming hysterectomy surgery, as I need things to occupy myself, and books won’t cover the whole time period for me.
I am from the age of having once owned Atari and Sega, and played games on the Commodore 64 computer. My favorite Commodore 64 game was “Ghostbusters,” and on Atari I loved “Breakout.” Sega brought to me the world of Sonic and I was in love.
I tried out the PlayStation when I was in the army, although, I admit, other than a Disney Game that I fell in love with, I mainly used it to watch movies in my barracks room. WII is another I tried, and loved, but unfortunately disappeared almost as quickly as it came out.
The Nintendo Switch seems to be here to stay, and I love the portability of it, as well as its docking capabilities so I can play on my big TV.
I only have a few games so far, but of the ones I’ve tried, my favorites are “Animal Crossing” and “Hogwart’s Legacy.” I have Mario Kart as well, which is super fun to play with my great nephews, but I love the simplicity of “Animal Crossing”, and the graphics in “Hogwart’s Legacy.”
It’s been a joy to get back into gaming again even as a grown woman with all the responsibilities of being an adult. I almost can’t wait until my surgery so that I can veg-out and play video games, watch movies, and essentially duck all of my work responsibilities for a few weeks. It’s amazing how motivating that can be. Of course, I am sure I will be tired through a lot of my recovery, but the excuse of needing things to do during that time finally pushed me over the edge to purchase a new gaming system!
